OH, this sweet family! I met this family around 4 years ago when I photographed their first baby girl.. well second baby girl. I’ve asked mama to share her amazing story of how God completely blessed their family….
Words from mama:
We always knew that we wanted a big family, but ironically we couldn’t even manage to have one child. I was diagnosed with PCOS as a teenager and knew that starting a family would likely be a struggle for me. Unfortunately, it was the one thing in my life that I wanted more than anything. It always felt that being a mother was my purpose. We got married in 2006. After several years of marriage and multiple unsuccessful fertility treatments, we decided to be foster parents. We realized that we would rather have children in our home to love and care for, rather than have no children at all.
We quickly fell in love with each of the children which is when the desire to adopt began. We kept most of our foster kids an average of 6 months but even had a sibling pair for 3 1/2 years. All of those children led to heart ache as they were eventually returned to their biological families…well, all except for one. We received a beautiful 4 month old baby girl in 2012. We discussed it and fully intended to not get too attached because we couldn’t handle another heart break! The day after we got her, she was sick, so I took her to the doctor.
The entire appointment, she kept arching her tiny neck around to watch me. We kept locking eyes. I felt her gaze down into my soul! There are no words to describe that feeling. I feel like she always knew that I was her Mommy! From that moment forward, I was completely in love with her!! Throughout our 4 1/2 years of fostering, we had continued to take fertility medicines off and on, but each time they were unsuccessful!
At the beginning of 2013, we decided to take one last cycle of fertility medicines, then be finished. I couldn’t emotionally handle the disappointment anymore. We were hoping to adopt our baby girl but nothing was definite at that point. Well, that fertility cycle was diagnosed as unsuccessful once again. We spent the next couple of weeks talking together about how it would be ok to have a small family. We swapped our focus fully over to adoption. In February, we went to court and found out that we would be able to adopt our daughter! That was one of the best days of our lives! The following day, I had a doctors appointment that I expected to be uneventful. On my drive home from the doctor, I got a phone call that they had decided to run a pregnancy test, and it was POSITIVE!! Our fertility cycle WAS successful! Within 24 hours, we had found out that we would be adopting our oldest daughter and we’re pregnant with our next child!!
In July 2013, we finalized Maely’s adoption, and in October 2013, Sadie was born!
We knew we wanted more kids, but weren’t sure if it would take years to get pregnant again. We started fertility medicines again the following year and got pregnant on the FIRST cycle. In March 2015 our son, Corbin, was born!
A year later, we once again decided to expand our family. We got pregnant the FIRST cycle again, then we found out it was TWINS! In February 2017, our twins, Reid and Gavin were born!
We initially spent 6 years trying to get pregnant and 5 years fostering with the hope to adopt! I’m not sure why God decided to bless us so abundantly, but we are beyond thankful! I feel that my infertility struggles were a blessing in disguise because it led us to foster and adopt!
We went from no children of our own to 5 children in 4 years! I’m definitely a believer in miracles because each of my kids ARE miracles!
… Seriously such a beautiful story. God is good and HE is an on time God. He knew just when to bless this family so that HE will be glorified through it all. Needless to say, I was SO very excited to get the call from mama that she was expecting again. This time with TWINS!!! As you know multiples are my heart! And these two were simply perfect <3
